An installation of new typographic works by Joe Miller feature delightfully abrasive to violently sentimental poetic excerpts rendered in unexpected materials—from fallout shelter signs to stolen paintings and family heirlooms. The artist will also be available in the gallery from noon to 4pm each Saturday during the exhibition to chat and to work on additional pieces. In addition to the First Friday opening, a closing party celebrating Joe's 47th birthday, and Space 47's first, will take place on September 27 from 2 to 4pm.
Joe Miller is a graphic designer and design educator whose work in design is widely published and exhibited. As a poet and spoken word performance artist, he has been featured at venues throughout the Bay Area. Joe has been a member of the graphic design faculty at San José State University since 1988. web: joemillersco.com


The Space 47 logo, designed by Joe Miller, will be featured in the upcoming Print 2008 Regional Design Annual, a survey of the best work in graphic design from the United States during the last year.
